Hotglue is an open source web making software whereby users can create personal webpages through the hotglue server. Users can add text, images and videos as well as creating their own design for their page.

Hotglue consists of a range of tools which allow uses to edit, add to and alter their page. Such tools being the text tools, background colour or the link tool.

Users are also able to add pages so their hotglue isn't limited to just a single page but as many as they wish.

The features and tools will allow users to create a personal, unique page therefore every hotglue page looks different, like an individual webpage.
My personal hotglue page is themed around Google. One of the reasons I have based my page on Google is because it is recognisable worldwide for its simple navigation system in which allows users to find millions of results so easily. As my hotglue consists of research and findings, I wanted to adopt this theme as it creates the impression of users navigating and sereaching in the same manner as they would when using Google. The links then navigate the user to research pages which are also based on the webpage that is being researched.

Another reason for the theming is because I have studied and written an essay about a digital narrative "The 21 Steps" which is also themed on Google. This narrative uses Google maps to tell a story and navigate the user. I have also based my Final project on a similar theme, using Google street view to narrate a story and the user chooses the direction they wish to go.

I have also used a simple theme as it allows me to create a structure which is simple for users to follow as well as create as the main Google themed pages each follow the same structure which creates a professional appearance.
Each of the tools allow users to edit their page in many ways and I have found these very helpful whilst creating my page as everything can be altered and changed to improve the design.

Another positive feature of Hotglue is the ability to move and select any item, similar to how a user would use Photoshop. This allows users to move objects anywhere on the page without limitaions or restrictions.
